Virtualize a server already in use; can I setup without losing all existing data

Postby JoeClark » Fri Sep 08, 2017 9:02 am

I have a computer running server 2012 all setup and in use for a small business. What I would like to do is install hyperV, virtualize it , then setup another box for replication and failover.

If the computer didn't already have everything setup and SW installed, this would be simple to do, I would install server 2012, install hyper V, setup a VM, and install all the SW on that instance.

But I have all the SW installed already. Is there a way to take the existing box and just put the hypervisor on it, setup a VM, and keep everything without doing anything else, or would I have have to setup the VM, then reinstall all the SW?

Please Help.
Thanks !

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
