Samsung LE40-C650 doesn't show large jpeg files

Postby floriske.nl » Sun Dec 05, 2010 4:52 pm

This is a follow up to a previous topic found here: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8818&start=0

At first I thought it was a problem with my NAS, but I've excluded that by doing some testing. It turns out to be problem between TwonkyServer and my Samsung TV so I decided to start a new topic in this section.

Problem is the following:

I have a CH3SNAS flashed to DNS-323 firmware so it's now a DNS-323 instead (same hardware and toolchain) with the latest 1.09 firmware.

Both TwonkyServer 4.4.18 and 6.0.23 give unsupported tiletype errors when trying to open large (12mpix) jpegs on my Samsung LE40-C650 TV. (small files e.g. 4mpix do work).

I've tested it on my XBOX 360 and Samsung Galaxy S mobile phone and both show the pictures perfectly.

I've also tested the Media Tomb server that comes with fun-plug with a few custom http header tweaks and in that case the pictures show up on my TV perfectly as well. (But I don't want to use MediaTomb because it is a lot harder to configure regarding how to index files and it doesn't index all files).

Conclusion: Definitely a TwonkyServer in combination with my Samsung TV problem, since it does work with MediaTomb or other clients.

Hopefully someone has a soullution for this problem (pref. for version 4.4.18 because this would save me from buying a new license).

The problem isn't gone. With 6.0.34 I can't see large jpeg's as well. I have twonky on qnap NAS Ts-110 and samsung Lcd and samsung BD-C5500. I see only thumbnails of pictures. The smaller jpeg's cause no problem. Is there any solution or you are working on issue?

I'm trying to get 6.0.38 working with my Samsung ue40d8000 and have the same problem: Small jpegs display with no problems but larger ones from my Nikon camera only appear as thumbnails.

Here is some info which may help.

Sometimes TwonkyServer doesn't correctly identify devices and loads a generic device profile. In some cases this can result in thumbnails being displayed -- instead of the full-sized photos.

Ways to fix this:
1. Go to the server settings pages and click on the Media Receivers link. Locate your device in the list and try changing it to another profile. If there is a profile in the list from the same company as your device, try that. If not, try other device profiles. Some have reported that changing this to Xbox solved their thumbnails problems.

2. Locate the clients.db file and try changing the "TR:"-line to "TR:JPEG1920x1080,JPEG138x103,MP3,WAV,WMV"
(put the higher HD resolution in front of the lower resolution). Some who did this say they are now seeing full screen pictures.

Let me know if either of these work for you.
